Welcome to my homepage!

My overarching research interest is how animals (including humans) move. That is very general, so in my work I focus on musculo-skeletal biomechanics, with evolutionary aspects always (at least) in the back of my mind.
I am particulary interested in:
  • the evolution of bipedality in early hominins, using human subjects and primate "models"
  • terrestrial and arboreal locomotion in hominoid primates
  • biomechanics of the human shod and unshod foot
  • locomotion and plantar pressure distribution in mammals
Currently, I am working on a European Research Project "Locomorph", trying to address how animals deal with functional morphological changes in the broad sense (i.e. changes in pedality, gait transitions, coordination due to anatomical handicaps). I am also coordinating Biodynamics Research at the Centre for Research and Conservation.

I'm interested in other things than work too, e.g. photography, travel, sports and music.
