Peter Van Aelst (1974) is a foundig member of M2P. Since March 2011 he is an associate research professor (zap bof) at the Department of Political Science. His research focuses on elections, campaigns, social movements and political communication. He has published on these topics in journals as Political Communication, International Journal of Press/politics, Acta Politica, Comparative Politics, Journal of Communication, European Journal of Political Research etc. In 2009 and 2010 he was an assistant professor of political psychology and political communication at Leiden University, the Netherlands. He coordinates a five year research project on Media and Politics in comparative perspective at Leiden University, funded by the Dutch Research council.
