of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Pseudotemelia josephinae (Toll, 1956)

An uncommon species in Belgium, hitherto known from six provinces throughout the country.

The larva lives in a case on dead, withered or fresh leaves of Vaccinium myrtillus, Fagus sylvatica, Carpinus and Populus.  It can turn around in the case, and is able to move in both directions. The larval stage takes two years and during this, it constructs up to 8 cases.

The adults fly from June till early September. They are active onwards from dusk and during the night and later come to light
