Eilema pygmaeola (Doubleday, 1847)

This rare species occurs exclusively in the coastal region in Belgium.

The larva feeds on lichens growing on stones, plant stems and posts. Hibernates as a small larva and pupates in a flimsy cocoon among lichens and moss.

The adults fly mainly during July and August. They come to light.
