The
most common species of this genus in Belgium.
The
larva lives on vegetable detritus, rotten leaves and in waste of straw
in barns and stables. Pupation takes place in a loose cocoon, covered
with excrements amongst leaf litter.
The
adults fly in July and August, but indoors they can be observed till
October.
