Hypatopa binotella (Thunberg, 1794)

A very rare species which occurs mainly on sandy soil (Kempen). It has thus far only been recorded from three provinces in the north of the country.  

The larva lives on fallen needles of different species of pine trees.

The adults fly in one generation a year; from late May towards mid August. They come to light.
