Bucculatrix ulmifoliae M. Herring, 1931

A recent arrival in Belgium (2007).

The young larva mines the leaf of Ulmus. The corridor follows the midrib and/or a lateral vein, most of the gallery completely filled with frass. Pupation in a grey-black, ribbed cocoon.

The adults fly in two generations a year; onwards from April towards May and again during July. They are active in the evening.
