An uncommon species in Belgium.
The
larva lives in a black, shiny pistol-shaped case on the leaves of especially Prunus spinosa, but also on Prunus avium, Crataegus, Malus, Pyrus, Sorbus, Tilia, Alnus, Betula, Carpinus, Corylus, Quercus, Salix etc... Pupation in the case, usually attached to the upper surface of a leaf.
The
adults fly in June and July. They come infrequently to light.
