An
uncommon species in Belgium.
The
larva bores through the florets and feeds on the unripe seeds of Trifolium pratense.
When the larva becomes a fourth instar a case is made. When completed
it's about 6 mm long dark red-brown tubular case. Pupation in the case
in the seedhead or on the ground.
The
adults fly in one generation a year; onwards from May till July. They
are active during sunshine, mainly before noon. They come infrequently
to light.
