A rare species in Belgium.
The
larva lives in a greyish brown lobe case on
Betula,
Carpinus and
Corylus
and mines from the underside, peppering the leaf with numerous small
blotches. The rear end of the case is strongly bent, almost pointing
back towards the mouth angle, which is being set between 60 and
80° to the long axis. Pupation in the case, usually attached to a
trunk just above ground level.
The
adults fly in one generation a year occuring from mid May towards late June. They come infrequently to light.
