A
very common species throughout Belgium.
The
larva feeds from a rather straight, ochreous case preferably on
Alnus glutinosa, Betula, Corylus or Ulmus.
It has also been recorded from Sorbus aucuparia, Sorbus
aria, Sorbus intermedia, Salix caprea or Carpinus
and even from herbaceous plants beneath the normal foodplants. It
hibernates.
The
adults fly from late May till the end of July.
