An uncommon species in Belgium.
The
larva feeds on the ripening seeds within the capsules of Stellaria holostea.
At final instar, the larva spins a portable trivalved case. This is
used as a temporary habitation, some larvae may continue to feed from
the case while others use it only for protection in their journey to
the pupation site. This is usually a tree trunk into which the larva
bores, leaving its case attached to the entrance hole.
The
adults fly in one generation a year; from the first week of May till
June. It flies over the food plant during sunshine and rest on the
flowers. Later they come to light.
