Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Limnaecia phragmitella Stainton, 1851

An uncommon and local species in Belgium. Restricted to wet habitats.

The larva lives in the seeds of Typha angustifolia or T. latifolia, causing the down to hang out in large, conspicuous masses. It hibernates. Pupation takes place in the sead-heads.

The adults fly from mid June till the end of August. They fly around the foodplant at dusk and later come to light.
