Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Catoptria mytilella (Hübner, 1805)

A very rare species in Belgium, only occuring in two southern provinces and only known from very few individuals. It has his stronghold in the province of Namur in the Calestienne area. It lives on xerotherm slopes.

The larva is not described yet, as also the earlier stages of development. It is believed they feed on mosses.

The adults fly from mid June till late July in one generation. They are easily disturbed during the day and are active at night. Later they come to light.
