Evergestis extimalis (Scopoli, 1763)

A common species throughout Belgium.

The larva lives in a silken web in the seed-pods of Sinapis, Iberis, Diplotaxis tenuifolia, Sisymbrium or some other species of Cruciferae. Sometimes a single web contains more than one larva. The larvae hibernate in the web. Pupation in a tough cocoon in the soil.

The adults fly from mid June till mid-end September. They are active at dusk and later come to light.
