A
local and rare species in Belgium, only observed in the north of the
country.
The
larva feeds on the young shoots of Phragmites or Glyceria
maxima, often below the surface of the water. When it has
finished feeding in a stem it cuts off a piece of reed about its own
length and floats on this on the surface of the water until it reaches
a new stem. Pupation in a stem below a prepared exit-hole.
The
adults have been observed from June till August. They fly at dusk and
later come to light.
