Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Orophia ferrugella ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

This xerothermic species is very rare and local in Belgium, recently discovered again after an absence of more than 150 years.

The larva lives in a large blotch on Campanulaceae like Campanula persicifolia. When it gets older, the larva lives free in a leaf spun on the food plant. Hibernates as an egg.

The adults fly from late May towards August. They come to light.
