Metzneria metzneriella (Stainton, 1851)

An uncommon and not often observed species in Belgium.

The larva lives in the seedheads of Centaurea nigra or Serratula  tinctoria  and hibernates inside before pupating in late May.

The adults fly from June till August. They come to light.
