Deileptenia ribeata (Clerck, 1759)

Confined to the southern provinces of Belgium where it is  rare and local.

The larva lives mainly on several coniferous trees, like Picea , Abies alba andTaxus baccata. Also found on Carpinus betulus, Betula, Quercus, Prunus spinosa, Vaccinium uliginosum and Lonicera xylosteum. Hibernates as a young larva on the food plant and pupates in loose earth.

The adults fly from end of June till early August. They come to light.
