First
observation of this species in Belgium was in 1995 and in 2004
when a second observation was done, the species was then described for
the first time in Belgium. This rare species was only known from the
province of Antwerpen. During 2005 more observations were done in the same province and also in a second province.
The
larvae feed on Betula, preferable on young trees, at first
in a gallery on either side of a leaf, later in a leaf rolled longitudinally,
upperside inwards. Pupation under a pale green membrane, generally
on the underside of a leaf.
The
adults fly from early July till early September. They hibernate and
can be found till early May. They rest on tree trunks and come to
light.
