Phyllonorycter acerifoliella (Zeller, 1839)


A not so common species in Belgium. Distribution is coextensive with the range of the food plant.

The larva makes a small mine on the underside of Acer campestre, usually at the tip of a lobe. The contraction of the lower epidermis causing the leaf lobe to fold downwards. 

The adults fly in two generations a year: May and  August.
