A
common species in Belgium.
The
larva makes a mine on the underside of mainly Malus, sometimes on Mespilus germanica, very occasionally on Crataegus and possibly on Amelanchier lamarcki. The mine, usually between two veins has several creases in the lower epidermis. Pupation inside the mine in a white silk-lined chamber. The pupa of the second generation hibernates.
The
adults fly in two generations a year; from mid April till May and again during August. They come to light.
