Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Phyllonorycter coryli (Nicelli, 1851)

A rather common species throughout Belgium.

The larva lives on Corylus avellana. It makes a more or less round, whitish mine on the upperside of the leaf. The mine has a papery appearance and there are often several mines on the same leaf. Pupation inside the mine. The pupa of the second generation hibernates.

The adults fly in two generations a year: from mid April till early June and again from mid July till September. They come to light.
