of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Phyllonorycter junoniella (Zeller, 1846)

A rare species in Belgium.

The larva lives in a mine on the underside of a leaf of Vaccinium vitis-idaea. The leaf margines are strongly attracted together, arching the upper surface. Due to the incompletely eaten parenchyma the upper surface has a dappled appearance. Pupation in the mine.

The adults have been observed mainly during June and July and sometimes also during August and September.
