A
common species throughout Belgium.
The
larva lives on Fagus. It makes a long mine between
two veins on the underside of the leaf. Pupation inside the mine. The
pupa of the second generation hibernates.
The
adults fly in two generations a year; from late April towards June and again during
August and September.
