Phyllonorycter maestingella (Müller, 1764)


A common species throughout Belgium.

The larva lives on Fagus. It makes a long mine between two veins on the underside of the leaf. Pupation inside the mine. The pupa of the second generation hibernates.

The adults fly in two generations a year; from late April towards June and again during August and  September.
