A
common species throughout Belgium.
The
larva lives on Corylus avellana.
It makes a long mine between
two veins on the underside of the leaf, and is strongly arched.
Pupation in a white cocoon attached to both upper and lower
epidermis inside the mine. The
pupa of the second generation hibernates.
The
adults fly in two generations a year: in May-June and in
August-September.
ID
mine: underside of the leaf, elongate (15-20mm long) with several
creases in lower epidermis and with a strong central fold. The upper
epidermis has a central green patch of uneaten parenchyma with brown
flecks around the edges.
