Phyllonorycter nigrescentella (Logan, 1851)

A rare species in Belgium.

The larva lives on Lathyrus, Lotus, Medicago, Trifolium and Vicia. It makes a tentiform mine, that is strongly inflated and almost folding the entire leaflet. The upper surface is mottled white and tenated plants become very obvious. Pupates in a light brown cocoon.

The adults fly in two generations a year; During April and May and again from late August towards September.
