Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Parectopa ononidis (Zeller, 1839)

A very rare species in Belgium, only known from five provinces. Most of the observations are older records from before 1980, but only in the province of West-Vlaanderen are a few recent records known.

The larva lives on Ononis repens and Trifolium pratense. Mine an opaque ochreous brown gallery along midrib with clearer branches where the larva has fed. Larva changes leaves and leave the mine just before pupation.

The adults fly in two generations a year: in May-June and again in August. They come occasionally to light.
