A
very common species wherever hawthorn is to be found throughout
Belgium.
The
larva lives mainly on Crataegus,
but can occasionally be found on Pyracantha, Cydonia vulgaris
and Pyrus communis.
It makes a small mine on the underside of the leaf,
usually
formed in the lobe of the leaf or near the petiole. The lower epidermis
with many creases and strongly contracted, causing the lobe or leaf
edge to fold over. Pupation inside the mine.
The
adults fly in two generations a year; in May and in August-September.
