A
native species to North America and accidentally introduced to Europe
and first recorded near Basel, Zwitserland in 1983. In Belgium
recorded for the first time in
2001 in the province of Limburg. Expands rapidly throughout the country.
The
larva is monophagous on Robinia
pseudoacacia
and make oval white blotches on the underside of the leaves. Regurarly
more mines on one leaflet occurs and they often merge each other and
than several larvae can
be found in one mine.
The mine never crosses the midrib. Pupation in
a whitish cocoon.
The
adults fly in three generations a year; from May till October. They hibernate as imago.
