A
not so common and local species throughout
Belgium.
The
larva feeds in the stem and roots of Pteridium aquilinum.
In the last
instar it feeds on young shoots at surface level. Overwinters several
times as a larva. Eggs
are simply dropped over the foodplant, while the female is in flight.
One of the few species were the males attracts the females with their
scent, resembling the smell of pineaple
The
adults fly from late May till the end of July. They are active from
dusk onwards and later come to
light.
