A
rather common species throughout Belgium. The most common Hepialidae in our country.
The
larva lives on the roots of small herbaceous
plants and probably also on grasses. Eggs
are simply dropped over suitable habitat, while the female is in flight. Hibernates as larva twice and pupates in the ground.
The
adults fly from July till well into September. They come to
light.
