Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Leucoptera malifoliella (O. G. Costa, 1836)

A rather uncommon species in Belgium, but probably overlooked.

The larva makes a typical round blotch on the upperside of a leaf on Chaenomeles, Cotoneaster, Crataegus, Cydonia, Malus sylvestris, Mespilus, Prunus, Pyrus, Sorbus aucuparia and Betula. The frass is dispersed in arches.

The adults fly in one or two generations a year; during June and July and around August.
