Micropterix aureatella (Scopoli, 1763)

A very rare species in Belgium.

The larva has been found on the tender, young growth of herbaceous plants. It hibernates. The imago feeds on the pollen of many herbaceous plants, also especially on Carex.

The adults fly from late April till July. They are active during daytime.
