Micropterix mansuetella Zeller, 1844)

A recent (2010) arrival in Belgium, hithrto known only from the province of Limburg.

The larva has been found on the tender, young growth of deciduous trees and other herbaceous plants. It hibernates. The imago feeds on the pollen of the flowers of Quercus, Crataegus and Acer pseudoplatanus and many other plants. 

The adults fly from early May towards June. They are active during daytime and can sometimes be found feeding on the pollen of many herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees.
