Micropterix schaefferi Heath, 1975)

A very rare species in Belgium.

The larva has been found on Brachypodium sylvaticum . It hibernates in a tough silken cocoon. The imago feeds on the pollen of many herbaceous plants.

The adults fly from early May towards June. They are active during daytime and can sometimes be found feeding on the pollen of many herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees.
