A very rare and local species in Belgium. Not often recorded.

The larva lives inside the stems of various species of Epilobium and causes a gall generally at one of the nodes. Pupates inside the stem.

The adults fly in one generation a year from August and, after hibernation again till May, though occasionally adults have been seen during December and January  during mild weather. They come occasionally to light.
