A
very rare species in Belgium, probably overlooked.
The polyphagous larve feeds on Vaccinium vitis-idaea.
The
mine starts as a long slender gallery, circling or crossing the leaf
with frass in a thick central line leaving clear margins and it
suddenly widens into a large blotch with the frass piled in the middle. It pupates in a orange to pale yellow cocoon.
The
adults fly in one extended generation a year; onwards from late April until August.
