A common species in Belgium.
The
larva makes a leafmine starting close to the midrib of a leaf of Fagus sylvatica. The initial gallery leading away from the midrib and progresses in a series of
"S" turns between the veins. Pupation in a
pale yellowish white cocoon.
The
adults fly in two generations: from late April to early June and again from July to August.
ID
mine: a small mine, the sinuous gallery usually starts from the midrib and ends direction
of leaf edge between the veins, rarely crossing. The frass is dispersed
in the gallery, never in arches.
