Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Agrotis clavis (Hufnagel, 1766)

A rather common species throughout Belgium.

The larva lives on the roots and leaves of different species of lower plants, like Polygonum and Trifolium. Hibernates as a larva in an underground cell, in which it pupates.

The adults fly in one, sometimes two generations a year; from late May towards late August. They come to light and sugar.
