A very rare and local species in Belgium mainly known from the three southern provinces. Recently (2010) observed in the province of Limburg, whether this is a vagrant or perhaps a small population is not known yet.

The larva lives on Pinus, Abies or Larix. Hibernates as a pupa on the ground.

The adults fly from May till late July in one generation a year. They come to light.
