Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Clostera pigra (Hufnagel, 1766)

A fairly common and local species throughout Belgium.

The larva lives especially on Salix, but also on Populus. Hibernates as a pupa in a cocoon spun between leaves of the food plant.

The adults fly in two generations a year; from early April till June and onwards again from mid July till beginning of September. They fly occasionally during the day and later on come to light.
