Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Epichnopterix plumella ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Known from many localities throughout Belgium.

The larva lives in a case which it constructs from grasses of different species of Gramineae.

Flight season is from late April till the end of June. The female lacks legs, antennae and is apterous and remains in the case, attracting the male by scent. The males fly arround noon in sunshine.
