Crombrugghia distans (Zeller, 1847)

A very local and very rare species in Belgium, hitherto only known from West-Vlaanderen.

The larva feeds on the central parts and on the flowers of Crepis capillaris and C. tectorum. Further additional host plants are Hieracium pilosella and H. amplexicaule, several species of Crepis, Sonchus asper and S. arvensis, Cichorium intybus and Picris hieracioides. Pupation on flowers, leaves or shoots of the food plant.

The adults fly in two generations a year; in April towards June and again from July to September. They are mainly active in the evening and just after dark.
