Catalogue
of the Lepidoptera of Belgium

Cnaemidophorus rhododactyla ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

A local and rare species in Belgium, thus far only known from four provinces.

The larva feeds on Rosa canina. In the autumn, it bores into the soft part of a stem. After hibernation if feeds on the flower-buds and the shoots, spinning a leaf to a bud. It pupates on the foodplant close to the larval feeding place, under a few strands of silk.

The adults fly from late June till August. They are active at night and come to light.
