A
rather common species in most areas of Belgium.
The
larva lives in the stem of Tanacetum vulgare. It
hibernates in the roots of the foodplant. In spring it mines a young
shoot. Pupation on the stem of the foodplant.
The
adults fly from mid June till early September. They are active at dusk
and come to light.
ID:
diagnosis Gillmeria;
the head with a frontal scale brush. Diagnosis G. ochrodactyla;
markings pale brown as in G. pallidactyla, but more pronounced when
fresh. Best to identify on the hindlegs, which are ringed with
grey-brown and dark brown.
