Dioryctria sylvestrella (Ratzeburg, 1840)

A rather rare species in Belgium, recorded mainly from the pine forests on sandy soils in the Kempen.

The larva lives in the cone or a shoot of Pinus. It hibernates. Pupation in the larval habitation.

The adults fly from July till the end of September. They come to light.
