Synanthedon flaviventris (Staudinger, 1883)

A very rare species in Belgium, only known from three provinces in the south. First observation for our country was in 1999 (LX).

The larva bores into the stem of Salix. Hibernates twice as larva.

The adults fly from mid June till late July, mainly in uneven years. They are active during daytime.
