Sesia melanocephala (Dalman, 1816)

Between 4 April 2001 and 23 June 2001,this species was found in three provinces for the first time ever in Belgium. A rare species in Belgium, only known from 3 provinces in the south and east.

The larva bores into the stem of Populus tremula.

The adults fly in June and July. They are active during daytime.
