A
fairly common species throughout Belgium, can be locally common especially in older orchards.
The
larva lives under the bark of a variety of trees, especially old
fruit trees of the Rosaceae, mainly in Malus, but also Pyrus,
Prunus amygdaloides, Crataegus, Sorbus, Mespilus,
and in trees of other families like Syringa, Hippophae,
Alnus, Betula. Hibernates once or twice as larva.
The
adults have been observed from the beginning of May till late August. They are active during daytime.
